OUR COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES

Different ways in.
The same sense of belonging.

A welcoming stage. A mural made together. An island weekend of shared stories. Three active programmes open different doors into Bermuda’s creative community.

OUR ROOTS RUN DEEP

Born from a gathering.
Grown into
a movement.

2003Where our story began.
Still being written, together.

One person finds their voice. A room begins to listen. A community grows.

Chewstick began in 2003 with friends and artists gathering to share their talents. The Neo-Griot Movement grew from those encounters into youth poetry, public murals, cultural festivals and a registered charity rooted in Bermuda.

Today, The Chewstick Foundation’s mission is to empower storytelling, creative expression and social justice to enrich youth, arts, culture and community.

The 2016 fire destroyed our Culture Hub, instruments and archives. Artists, volunteers and partners helped keep the work alive. Today, Open Mic, Community Art and Retreats carry that shared purpose forward.

HELP KEEP THE DOOR OPEN

Good vibes.
Real community.
Your support.

Help keep a stage open to new voices, bring Bermuda’s stories into public spaces and make a retreat place possible. Your support sustains our three active programmes and the people who make them happen.
