Calix Smith
Calix Smith has been creating art (professionally) for the past 9 years and has displayed his work at a host of group and solo exhibitions in Bermuda. His work primarily focuses on love, however, he likes to be outspoken on topics of a socio-political nature. He has shown his grafitti/abstract/installation based work in some of Bermuda’s top galleries such as the Ace Gallery, Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art,, BSoA (Bermuda Society of Arts), The Bermuda College Art Gallery and the Bermuda Arts Centre of Dockyard. They have all been homes to his creative installations.
Calix attended Bermuda college to pursue his associates in art and design. He then decided to leave and chase his dream full time. Dream chasing led him to becoming one of the founding members of the project-based collective B.A.R.U. Calix soon found himself in full swing creating and helping B.A.R.U. to establish itself. The collaborative efforts with the members of B.A.R.U. led to his creative growth and becoming a full on collaborative artist.
Calix is currently creating art that pushes the boundaries of what people consider as visual art, by breaking traditional standards and doing what the fuck he wants to do.
