Danya Steele – How will you design your life?
In our commitment to breaking down social barriers, celebrating storytelling and empowering individuals to deepen on many levels, we have invited author, community activist, and entrepreneur, Danya Steele, to share insights with Bermuda students, facilitate a workshop at their Winter Retreat and lead a discussion in partnership with the Women’s Resource Center.
Danya Steele’s work is committed to bettering the world through youth development, media, and inspiring people to take on their own destinies. Her work focuses heavily on storytelling and chronicling experiences to empower future generations. She is currently writing a book which highlights emerging young leaders who are changing South Africa in the post-apartheid era. She left a very comfortable job in 2009 to do this because she felt these were stories that needed to be told. Danya Steele is committed to mutual empowerment and to encouraging self-reflection in order to live with purpose.
We have organized a few events so that Ms. Steele’s influence achieves maximum positive impact. She has a wealth of experience in heading non-profits focused on Youth Empowerment. Her approach is always interactive and inspirational; at 27 years old she has already made her mark on the globe and has a passion for helping others to do so as well. Ms. Steele’s work strives to promote understanding of diverse cultures by encouraging self-reflective living and sharing.
This is our first venture in having an international facilitator as part of their highly successful Retreat program, and will be an ideal opportunity for personal and mutual growth and collaboration across geographical lines. The 2012 Winter Retreat promises to be the best ever, as we are encouraging participants to unplug from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind and to reconnect with themselves. Participants will be encouraged to share individual gifts & passions, learn about conscious living and cultivate their own personal story and destiny. Along with Ms. Steele’s workshop there will be workshops on African drumming, song-writing, yoga, fitness, guitar, demonstrations on head wrapping, healthy cooking, time for self-reflection, and more.

What I am mostly interested in is inspiring people to think about how their lives are going and how to make that work for them no matter what they may view as current obstacles or circumstances. I would highlight all of the many tools we all have at our fingertips to manifest dreams and make things happen. This talk applies to literally anyone, and can be tweaked according to the audience (whether it’s youth or women). I would come with a presentation and some interactive exercises to get people thinking about themselves and their own lives. – Danya Steele
