Chewstick 8th Anniversary Celebration

The Chewstick Foundation will be holding the 8th Anniversary Celebration of the Chewstick Movement on January 1, 2011 at the Spinning Wheel Entertainment Complex on Court Street.
This is an epic reason to attend in and of itself considering the average life-span of open-mic nights in Bermuda, however we have upped the ante even more with this being the final show at our longtime home of Spinning Wheel in advance of opening doors to the new facility.

The 8th Anniversary Celebration will not only highlight some amazing  talent and bring people from all walks of life together but will also serve as a much needed fund-raising event to support our expanding facility on the corner of Court Street and Elliot Street. The new facility will allow us to permanently house programs for artist development, community outreach and cultural enrichment and ultimately become Bermuda’s premier destination for live entertainment and local culture. We are seeking to raise $50,000 from the anniversary event for this specific project, so please spread the word, come out and give generously.

Celebrations will begin with a Patrons Reception sneak peak at the new Chewstick Neo-Griot Lounge & Café from 7pm until 9 pm.  Festivities will then move across the street to The Spinning Wheel Entertainment Complex for the anniversary show where 8 artists will perform as a showcase to highlight Chewstick’s brightest, newest and most promising talents: Joy T. Barnum, Aden Peets, Stephan Johnstone, Tiffany Paynter, K.A.S.E., Jammin’, Canjelae and D’Warning are all scheduled to perform. Following this, there will be a limited open mic and good vibes when the djs takeover and the dancing begins.

We have been going strong these past eight years, due largely to the support of those who believe in the Movement and the artists we have been established to support. The Chewstick Foundation continues to inspire diverse individuals to share their stories artistically and provide a sanctuary of hope and inspiration in these dark times. Come to support this worthy cause, and to help further the endeavors to enrich our island home.

Tickets for the 8th Anniversary Celebrations will be sold for $30 (General) and $150 (Patron) and are available between 9am and 5pm at The Chewstick Headquarters on the corner of Court Street and Elliot Street, or contacting us at 292 2439 or emailing info@chewstick.org
