Chew FC Shock BDA Motors

December 5, 2010
Chew FC- 8
Bda Motors- 2

Revenge is sweet, and sometimes even demoralizing and this was the case on December 5th when Bermuda Motors capitulated at the hands (or rather, the feet) of the Mighty Chew FC. For the record, until Sunday, Bermuda Motors were the only Breakfast league outfit that Chew FC had never beaten in league play. Bermuda Motors also knocked us out of the KO cup in the first round in extra time at the beginning of this season.

As the rain beat down at Spice Valley, it looked unlikely that we’d get a full team before kickoff. Hosang showed up, as he does, at kickoff to make the our 11th player. We started brightly, knocking the ball around and picking apart the Motors backline with Chris and Somner linking up dangerously. We opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a classy volley from Sarge who was working well alongside Heldar in the middle of the park. Hosang squared the ball outside the box and Sarge flicked up the pass and stung a volley to the left of the motors keeper. We dominated proceeding for the most part but we played our best football in the first half and should have come away with more than two goals. The goal came from a set piece and Hosang was the provider again. Roddy took a free kick wide on the left and delivered the ball to the far corner of the penalty area. Hosang’s first-time ball back across the goal found Somner who finished smartly from 12 yards. Motors pulled back a controversial goal toward the end of the half.

The game plan laid out at half-time worked out better than we thought. Cat scored the third goal from the penalty spot. Somner completed his hat-trick and the score stood idle for a while, with Motors moaning about biased reffing. They were awarded a penalty late in the match but it clearly wasn’t Motors’ day as the penalty rattled off the post and Djata cleared the ball with his feet. It was hard not to laugh. Motors did pull one pack through Taur Caisey, and Chew FC added three more before the game died, one more from Cat, one from Hosang and a well taken corner which saw Ryan rise and power home a header. It was a great day out for the Boys in orange. The winning streak now sits at 5 in a row, and surely places Chew FC somewhere at the top of the league. Regardless of whether or not the league table gets up on the site this week; if Chew FC extend the winning streak to six this Sunday against Equalizers we will be top of the league!!
