Langhorne Slim LIVE at Chewstick! • Monday, Nov.1st 2010, 8pm
For the uninitiated, Langhorne Slim is an enigmatic singer-songwriter out of Pennsylvania, playing a funky mix of alternative folk, indie rock and moody country. His unrestrained vocals and moody melodic tracks lay the foundation for passionate music, complete with evocative storytelling and music that makes you want to leap to your feet.
Langhorne Slim has had many international successes with songs featured in movies and commercials and performing at major music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, Austin City Limits Festival, Newport Folk Fest, Sunset Junction, Pickathon, Rhythm and Roots, and SXSW. The band garnered heavy acclaim for their performance of “Restless” on the David Letterman show and were WXPN’s artist of the month. Slim is curently touring in support of his latest album Be Set Free (2009). His prior releases include Electric Love Letter (2004), When the Sun’s Gone Down (2005), Engine EP (2006) and Langhorne Slim (2008). Slim says of his own music, “I’m not sure that there’s any other kind, but the songs I write are love songs.”
This special surprise concert in Bermuda is in support of The Chewstick Foundation and we are very excited to have Langhorne Slim play here. For those unable to make it to the actual show, or for Slim fans not in Bermuda, we will be streaming the show live HERE on chewstick.org. This is defintely a show you shouldn’t miss, stars like Slim rarely tour Bermuda. This is guaranteed to be another successful Griot Session in Chewstick’s new concert series, which has recently featured reggae artist Live Wires, soulful songstress Joy T. Barnum, Chewstick’s own folk sensation Djata and others.
